Awards and Badges

All swimmers are assessed against the criteria set out in the National Plan and assessments are carried out on a monthly basis. Once they have passed the assessment it means they have acquired the skills they need to move to the next level. We are working to the updated National Plan which involves 10 levels. The first 7 are based around developing core aquatic skills – the teaching groups, while 8, 9 and 10 are specific to the discipline – for us this is Competitive Swimming.

Children have the chance to gain awards in swimming these are categorised as follows:

Beginners – Tara devised an award system whereby every time the children attend their swimming lessons they get a coloured sticker to put on their sticker chart, when their chart is full they are awarded with a certificate to take home.

Puffin – swim 5m with a floatation

5mtrs – swim 5m without a floatation

10mtrs – swim10m without a floatation

Level 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8, 9+10, 11+12, Competitive Start.

Grades 3,4,5,6
