Laura Brookes —— Ben Sweeney —— Josh Reasbeck
are three very talented and successful swimmers who deserve special praise for their achievements.
Laura Brookes at 14yrs old, is a great example of what real talent, dedication and hard work can achieve. From showing great potential at a young age at Edlington, Laura has now progressed to swimming 8 sessions per week for Doncaster and in January this year it culminated in a well deserved call up to an England talent camp.
Since then, she has qualified for 6 events in this year’s British Championships and is in the Top 24 Nationwide for her age.
It is a testament to both the swimmer and the club that Laura still enjoys pulling on the colours of Edlington to swim in local team galas. Very Well Done from everyone at EASC.
Ben Sweeney has completed another amazing performance at last weekend’s European Down Syndrome Championships in Southampton. He came away with a fist full of medals including 6 Golds, 2 Silvers and a speeding ticket. We are lucky to have such a talented swimmer who’s a credit to the club and a dedicated swimmer. He trains hard and is always looking to improve himself. As well as competing at the highest level, Ben also has time to put something back into the club by supporting the development of Edlington’s young swimmers. Very Well Done from everyone at the club.
Josh Reasbeck, another one of Edlington’s finest, is currently the North East 200m Fly Champion for his age and he is hoping to qualify for the Summer Nationals as one of the top 24 in the country. Wishing you the very best for the Nationals from all the team at Edlington.
